About the Band

Band performing on stage with singer and musicians playing guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard, surrounded by pumpkins and a sign reading 'Ginger Molasses', against a backdrop with 'Harvest Festival' text.

Ginger Molasses is a female-fronted quintet from Nevada City, California. They blend the soul and groove of 70s rock with a modern edge. Fronted by the high-energy Tawnee Kendall and powered by world class songwriting, the band has converted legions of superfans across Northern California. Often compared to classic soul-influenced artists like Little Feat, Ike & Tina Turner, and Joe Cocker, they also draw on elements of power pop, disco, hip hop, and Southern rock to craft their unique sound. Their joyous live shows feature platform shoes, sparkles, capes and sometimes even more outrageous costumes, reflecting their absurdist humor and camaraderie. Their mix of covers and originals get crowds of all ages on their feet.
