About Ginger Molasses
Ginger Molasses is a female-fronted quintet from Nevada City, California. They blend the soul and groove of 70s rock and soul with a modern pop edge. Their sizzling live shows and powerful songwriting have converted legions of superfans across Northern California.
At the helm is powerhouse front-woman Tawnee Kendall, a riveting performer whose boundless energy and soaring vocal chops get audiences moving. Behind her is a roster of solid musicians: Lessley Anderson playing funky Wurlitzer and B3 keyboard sounds, Galen Krumel delivering melodic hooks on bass, Bodhi DuLac shredding on guitar, and Nick Overhauser driving the rhythm on drums.
Ginger Molasses has been compared to classic soul-influenced artists like Little Feat, Ike & Tina Turner, and Joe Cocker, but they also draw on elements of power pop, disco, hip hop, and Southern rock to craft their unique sound. Their joyous live shows feature platform shoes, sparkles, capes and sometimes even more outrageous costumes, reflecting their absurdist humor and camaraderie.
Since forming in 2023, they have lit up stages at iconic venues such as Bottom of the Hill (SF), Boom Boom Room (SF), Miner’s Foundry (Nevada City), and Truckee’s Music in the Park. In 2024, they released their self-titled, six-song debut EP on all major streaming platforms, and in October of 2025, they released the single, River Rats, an anthem to the anarchic culture of the Sacramento Delta. More new music is slated to drop in late 2025.
